Meet Your Veterinarian
Hi! I’m Dr. Erika Bruner. (Please call me Erika.) I’ve been a vet since 2001, when I graduated from Tufts University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. I have many years of experience in both medicine and surgery, including emergencies, which helps me understand what’s going on for you and your pet when their health challenges get serious.
These days, I focus only on end-of-life care at home; that’s primarily euthanasia (and aftercare as needed), but also includes consultations for you and your family about your pet’s quality of life and making end-of-life decisions. (Consultations are optional, not required. I know that these decisions are very difficult, and that talking about them can be hard.)
Many of my clients wonder how I can do this job, and assume that it must be draining and depressing. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s not simple, but it’s very meaningful. I believe with all my heart that providing a peaceful and comfortable end to their lives is one of the greatest gifts we can give our beloved pets.
We all have to face losing them at some point, and we need experienced and respectful support through the process. It’s a tremendous honor to me to help in this way and it’s moving and beautiful to witness the deep love between people and their pets. I feel honored and grateful to help out at one of the most challenging times a family ever has to go through.

Other Things About Me
I share my home with my two cats, Bigfoot and Groot; my very supportive husband; and my amazing daughter when she is home from college! I love food and reading and working out with kettlebells. I wanted so much to like gardening, but can’t deal with the heat and the bugs. I recently got into decorative mending (of clothes) as a hobby, and I have a secret identity as a fiction copyeditor and proofreader.
